Current research
Why do AI answers fail to be defensible in regulated settings? Modern systems produce fluent answers; compliance work demands answers that can be tested, evidenced, and shown to an examiner. I am studying where that gap comes from and what closing it requires.
As part of this work, I am interviewing approximately twenty-five compliance and risk leaders who have lived through remediation, for a benchmark study on how their teams evaluate and defend automated answers. The study is anonymized; participants receive the findings before publication.
Background
Search & retrieval — founding CTO, Kosmix (acq. Walmart); founder & CEO, Zettata (acq. Target). Owned search quality with human relevance judgments, golden query sets, and regression gating — evaluation discipline before it had a name.
Data systems — Ph.D., University of Wisconsin–Madison; faculty, IIT Bombay; Bell Labs; most recently Chief Innovation Officer, Aerospike.
Life sciences — founder & CEO, Strand Life Sciences (acq. Reliance); genomics and clinical informatics, where answers carry regulatory weight.
